The Herb Kitchen - Why Put Petrol On Your Face?

Most cosmetics - even "natural" ones, use a base of mineral oil or its derivatives made from petroleum.
Anna Parkinson's HERB KITCHEN is a one day workshop that will teach you how to make your own face creams using plant extracts and herbs that will bring your complexion to peak condition and iron out its problems.

Topics to be explored during the workshop are:

  • Some plants and how they've been used in the past
  • Natural materials for creams
  • Getting the right consistency
  • Durability of materials
  • Getting the most out of your plant materials
  • Measuring out ingredients and making your own face cream to take home.

Anna Parkinson, a former BBC journalist and author began exploring the powerful potential of plants through the work of her ancestor, Britain's first royal herbalist, John Parkinson. Her book, ' Nature’s Alchemist' tells his extraordinary life story and that of his famous 17th Century garden in London's Covent Garden. Anna writes about traditional medicine for national newspapers, including the Telegraph & the Times, and has a regular column in Organic Homes and Gardens. She emphasises practical ways to put plants to use today and is currently building a national collection of traditional herbal recipes.
